Learn About Us
Village Voices Speech Therapy and Assistive Technology Services, LLC is a unique private practice that specializes in using assistive technology to enhance independence. We teach people with verbal speech challenges and receptive/expressive language differences to convey their needs, wants and ideas using technology. This technology ranges from “low/lite tech” (e.g. paper-based alphabet or symbol boards) up to “high tech” tools (e.g. apps on a tablet or computer). With access to these tools and the skills to properly use them, people can successfully participate in their day-to-day activities at their school, home, workplace, and community locations.
Our goal is to create a supportive environment that fully fosters each client’s participation in our community. Serving as a vetted, dependable resource and a hub to bring people together, we give a voice to those with communication differences in a welcoming, village-like setting.
We are proud to offer:
Specialization in augmentative and alternative communication (AAC)
Services for people of all ages and abilities that are highly customized and targeted toward the specific goals of the client
Integration of speech-language pathology best practices into the services of other organizations to create an inclusive community
Meet the Founder
Village Voices Speech Therapy and Assistive Technology Services, LLC is owned and managed by Elena Fader Hurlburt, a speech-language pathologist with over a decade of experience in providing services and leadership within the field of assistive technology. Since she was first introduced to the field of speech-language pathology in high school, Elena’s career path has consistently complemented her love of language and writing, her understanding of the true power of communication, and her natural compassion towards others.
Elena finds true joy in supporting people with complex communication needs in achieving their own, personally-meaningful goals. Her other sources of joy come from outdoor adventures with her family, chatting with old and new friends over a cup of coffee, experimenting in the kitchen, getting behind a camera, and enjoying a good dose of “beach” therapy.
